Side Events – Specialized Workshops with WIPO AMC and WIPO’s IP for Business Division in Qatar – 3 September 2025

As part of the Conference program, two specialized workshops will be held on 3 September, featuring expert speakers from the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and the WIPO’s IP for Business Division, in collaboration with key Qatari partners. These sessions are designed to provide in-depth, practical insights into key aspects of intellectual property and dispute resolution.


WIPO Mediation and Arbitration in IP and Technology Disputes: Principles and Practice

This workshop is designed to equip legal professionals, judges, corporate counsels, and policymakers with a clear understanding of WIPO’s mediation and arbitration procedures for resolving intellectual property and technology disputes. Through expert-led presentations, real case studies, and practical guidance on drafting ADR clauses, participants will gain a strong grasp of the structure, benefits, and application of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in both domestic and international contexts.


Key topics include:

– How mediation and arbitration are conducted under WIPO rules

– The roles of parties, mediators, and courts (including court-referred mediation)

– Case examples of IP and technology-related disputes

– Best practices for drafting mediation and arbitration clauses tailored to IP needs

– The session features speakers from WIPO, international law firms, and regional courts, offering practical tools to resolve disputes efficiently, support innovation, and reduce litigation burdens.


WIPO Intellectual Property Management Clinic: Leveraging IP for Business Growth and Globalization

This full-day, hands-on workshop is tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) aiming to use intellectual property (IP) as a driver of growth, innovation, and global competitiveness.

Through interactive sessions, case studies, and roundtable discussions, participants will learn how to identify, protect, and commercialize intangible assets—such as inventions, brand identity, and proprietary knowledge.

Key topics include:

– The strategic role of IP in business growth

– Practical IP planning and risk management

– Common challenges and best practices

– Success stories from Qatari businesses

– Using IP in digital platforms and e-commerce

The day concludes with an interactive strategy session, where companies will begin crafting their own IP plans. These businesses may then enter a follow-up phase to develop customized IP roadmaps aligned with their goals.
