Committee on Intellectual Property and International Law

The Committee on Intellectual Property (IP) and International Law is established to promote research, training, studies, events, and dialogues on key issues relating to intellectual property matters, at the international and regional level. The Committee will focus on the intersection of international legal frameworks and intellectual property laws with the aim of improving the understanding of these laws, and supporting innovation and sustainable economic growth.

The Committee will study the alignment of domestic and regional laws in IP with international laws, policies and best practices. The Committee will also concentrate on studies exploring the nexus of IP with sports, sustainability, alternative dispute resolution, and frontier technologies.

Committee Information

Mandate Duration: Two years as of the date of establishment. Renewal is subject to a written decision by the Chair of the Committee.

Work Plan and Expected Outcomes: Every year: one to three webinars, one publication, and one to two conferences or workshops in Qatar or the GCC region.
